The National Investigation Agency on Saturday obtained the voice and handwriting samples of Tahawwur Rana, who was the alleged mastermind behind the 26/11 attack. The handwriting specimens were recorded in an in-chamber proceeding before Judicial Magistrate First Class, Vaibhav Kumar in the Delhi High court.

The NIA collected various alphabets and numeric characters written by Rana as samples. The court had earlier granted NIA the permission to gather the voice and handwriting samples of the accused.

Piyush Sachdev, a legal counsel representing Tahawwur Rana told the court that his client "fully complied with a recent court order directing him to submit samples of his voice and handwriting".

The NIA had sought the sample that was passed by Special NIA Judge Chander Jit Singh on April 30. The judge had earlier extended Rana’s NIA custody for 12 days on April 28.
