Abbas Ansari, the son of Mukhtar Ansari, who is currently imprisoned in Kasganj jail, has filed a request with the Supreme Court to be allowed to attend his father's funeral.
Today being a holiday at the Supreme Court, Abbas Ansari's lawyer has reached out to the vacation officer of the court, requesting an immediate hearing.
Mukhtar Ansari's family is expected to hold his final rites on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the family confirmed that the arrangements for his funeral have been made following the morning prayers, as his body is being transported from Banda to Ghazipur.

The gangster-turned-politician was imprisoned in Banda district jail, passed away due to cardiac arrest in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday.
Mukhtar Ansari's son Umar Ansari alleged that his father suffered 'slow poisoning in Banda jail. Authorities refuted the allegations, and an autopsy was performed on Friday.
In the days leading up to his demise, Mukhtar Ansari had filed a complaint with the Barabanki court, claiming he was served poisoned food in prison.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Banda has ordered an investigation into Mukhtar Ansari's death.
