Kolkata police has arrested a man with arms in his car for trying to enter West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kolkata.

Kolkata police has arrested a man with arms in his car for trying to enter West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kolkata.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal said, "Kolkata Police has intercepted one person, identified as Sheikh Noor Alam, near CM Mamata Banerjee’s residence while he was trying to enter the lane. One firearm, one knife and contraband substances found on him besides several ID cards of different agencies. He was travelling in a car with a Police sticker on it. Police, STF & Special Branch are examining and questioning him at Local Police Station."

Banerjee was at her home when the incident took place. "He wanted to meet the CM. This is a serious issue. We are trying to find out what was his actual purpose," Goyal further said. The vehicle was also seized. The incident happened hours before the Trinamool Congress supremo is scheduled to leave her Kalighat residence to reach the 'Martyr's Day' rally venue in the central part of the city.
