A case of criminal intimidation and provocation has been registered against BJP MLA and former minister C N Ashwath Narayan for allegedly giving a call during a public meeting in February to finish off Chief Minister Siddaramaiah "just as", he claimed, "Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda had eliminated 18th Century AD Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan".

The case was registered at the Devaraja police station here on Wednesday on a complaint by Congress spokesperson M Lakshman. The case pertains to Narayan’s public speech during an election rally on February 15, this year.

During the public meeting he had said, "Whom do you want, Tipu or Savarkar (Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar)? Where should we send Tipu to? What did Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda do? He should also be finished the same way.”
