Having sent more than half of Sri Lankan batting on Saturday, India needed 35 balls on Sunday morning to skittle the visitors out for a paltry 109 in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah recorded his eighth five-wicket haul in Tests and first at home. Batting for the second time in as many days, India dished out a much-improved performance through Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, whose fifties propelled India to 303/9 declared. While Pant scored the fastest Test fifty by an Indian in 28 balls, Iyer scored his second 50-plus score in the match. Chasing 447 runs to win, Sri Lanka have lost Lahiru Thirimmane to end the day at 28/1, still needing 419 runs with three days left in the day-night Test at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
