In a moment of pride for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, has been conferred with a personalized postal stamp by the Department of Posts (DoP).
The special commemorative stamp was presented by Ashish Kumar, Sub-Postmaster, AIIMS Vijaypur at an event on Saturday, marking a rare recognition accorded to a healthcare leader for his outstanding contributions to the field. Such honours have historically been reserved for a select few who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to public service in healthcare across the country.
Prof. Gupta, a seasoned administrator and medical professional, has been instrumental in shaping AIIMS Jammu into a beacon of excellence in the region’s healthcare landscape. Under his stewardship, the institution has witnessed significant growth in infrastructure, services, and patient outreach, drawing national attention.
Reflecting on the recognition, Dr Gupta said modestly: “If life ever offers you a choice between chasing recognition or spreading light — choose the light. Recognition has a short memory, but light leaves a lasting glow.”
“True greatness doesn’t come from crowns, titles, or awards — it comes from how many people walk a little further because of the light you shared,” he said. “Let others count the awards; I’ll keep counting the lives we light up along the way.”
The honour assumes greater significance ahead of the Deepawali festival, with Dr. Gupta’s message resonating with the spirit of light, service, and selflessness.
