Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer 'Shehzada' released in theatres on February 17, 2023. The movie was the remake of the Telugu blockbuster 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' starring Allu Arjun in the lead role. The Hindi remake was directed by David Dhawan's son Rohit Dhawan. Despite all the hype, buzz, and promotions, the movie failed to live up to the expectations of the audience and had a slow start at the box office. It was a huge disappointment at the ticket windows.
'Shehzada' also featured Manisha Koirala as Kartik's on-screen mother and she was raved for her performance. In a recent interview with Outlook, the actress opened up about the failure of the film.
It takes a lot of hard work for the cast and the team to make a movie and when it doesn't do well, one really gets hurt. The same happened with Manisha too. She revealed that she was 'hurt' by 'Shehzada's failure.
When asked if 'Shehzada's failure took a toll on her, the 'Khamoshi' actress said, "It never did. I would give 100% at that point of time and then I move on. So, it didn't really take a toll but of course, because I am attached to my project and want to see its success." She added, "I was hurt and disappointed. I rather wished it had done well but anyways one has to accept life."
On the work front, Manisha Koirala will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi'. The first look is already unveiled. It also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh. It will showcase the story of the courtesans of Lahore and is set in pre-independent India. The magnum opus will release on Netflix.
