Catch the highlights of the Men’s Javelin Throw Qualification (Group A) at the World Athletics Championships 2025 at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Wednesday, September 17. India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra sealed his place in the finals with an 84.85m throw, breaching the automatic qualifying mark is 84.50m. The other athletics to have confirmed their place in tomorrow's final round are Julian Weber (87.21m) and Dawid Wegner (85.67m). The 19 participants in Group A will get three attempts each. At the end of the qualification round, the best 12 will go through to the next stage. All 19 players have had their first attempts, and ONLY Neeraj Chopra has qualified so far. Keshorn Walcott is second with his 83.93m effort. Third is Julian Weber, who, very surprisingly, could only manage 82.29m with his first effort. Five other players, including Sachin Yadav, have managed to breach the 80m mark. Two players have had foul throws.

Julian Weber vanquishes his disappointment from his first effort with a giant throw in his second attempt, and reaches 87.21m - better than what Neeraj managed. The German goes straight to the finals.

Sachin Yadav has improved upon his initial effort, coming very close with his next throw, reaching 83.67m. This takes him to the top five in Group A. This will go a long way in taking him to the top 12 at the end of qualification, if he fails to breach the 84.5m mark.

Julian Weber became the second player to seal automatic qualification with his 87.21m effort. Jakub Vadljech is third, registering his season's best effort with 84.11m. Keshorn Walcott threw 77.61m, dropping down to fourth with one effort left. Sachin Yadav (83.67m) is fifth. Three players have had foul throws.

Sachin Yadav maintained his place in the top five, registering 82.63m with his final throw. Now his qualification fate lies with the results of the Group B qualifiers. Remember, the top 12 go through to the finals.

Out of nowhere, Poland's David Wegner, the world No. 21, sealed automatic qualification with his final effort, registering 85.67m! That's his personal and season best, overtaking Neeraj Chopra to finish second in Group A. Sachin's fight to qualify just got tougher.
