India Vs Australia, 2nd ODI: India Beat Australia by 99 runs To Win The Series - As It Happened

India defeated Australia by 99 runs in the second match of the three-match ODI series to take 2-0 lead. Catch the highlights of the IND vs AUS, 2nd ODI match here

India registered a big 99-run victory over Australia in a rain-affected second ODI cricket match in Indore on Sunday. With this win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Indian innings was anchored by Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer's respective tons that allowed the middle order batter, especially Suryakumar Yadav to play in their true style. Overall, it was a good performance from the hosts. Indian bowlers also did well and finished the guests' innings on 219. In the series opener, India rode Mohammed Shami's five-wicket haul to win the Mohali faceoff comfortably. The third and final match is scheduled to be played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on Wednesday. Australia were building a partnership and settling down when it began pouring again. The covers have come on. 

6:45pm: Prasidh Krishna Gets Two In Two 
India have a double breakthrough in the second over. Prasidh Krishna gets one two swing away outside off, which Short slashes, only to get a thick outside edge that flies to Ravichandran Ashwin at deep third. Stand-in skipper Steve Smith follows suit the very next delivery, playing an almost identical shot to another outswinging delivery. This time the edge flies fast to Shubman Gill at first slip, who does very well to hold on to it. Australia in trouble. 10/2.

6:41pm: Australian Innings Begins
Just like India, Australia too have started their innings with a boundary off the very first ball. Matthew Short drives Mohammed Shami through the covers for the perfect start to what is an extremely daunting chase of 400. 

6:09pm: India End With Mammoth 399
India have put up a six-hitting exhibition at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Batter after batter came in and cleared the ropes with impunity. As many as 18 sixes were struck in the Indian innings, which finishes at a massive 399/5 in the stipulated 50 overs. In addition to centuries by Gill and Iyer, Rahul and Suryakumar struck quickfire fifties to take India to the formidable total.

5:29pm: KL Rahul Gets In On The Act
India's stand-in skipper continues in the rich vein of form post his comeback from injury, and is batting on 48 off just 32 balls. He has joined by Suryakumar Yadav at the crease, who has arrived after Ishan Kishan was dismissed in the quest for quick runs. India look set for a 370-plus total.

4:50pm: Gill Departs
Cameron Green dismisses Gill. The Indian opener walks back after scoring another luminiscent ton (104 off 97 balls; 6 fours, 4 sixes)  

4:37pm: Gill Smashes Century
Shubman Gill slams yet another century in India colours. The youngster in ominous form ahead of the ODI World Cup. India 230/2 after 33 overs.

4:26pm: Iyer Departs

Shreyas Iyer goes one for one shot too many, and is holed out in the deep. He scored 105 off 90 deliveries. India 216/2 after 30.5 overs.

4:18pm: Iyer Cracks Century
Shreyas Iyer gets to his century off just 86 balls. Top knock. India 210/1 after 29.5 overs.

3:55pm: Gill, Iyer Consolidate To Put India On Top
The young Indian duo is piling on the agony for Australia with its calculated assault. Both batters are now in their 80s and looking good to complete their respective centuries. India seem primed for a massive total.  India 190/1 after 26 overs.

3:19pm: Iyer Too Past 50-Run Mark
Shreyas Iyer has followed suit, emulating his partner at the other end to get to his fifty with a six down the ground. A 41-ball fifty for the middle-order batter. India going strong at 128/1 after 15.5 overs.

3:07pm: Gill Gets To Half Century
Shubman Gill reaches his half century with a majestic six down the ground. A 37-ball fifty. India 111/1 after 13.3 overs.

2:53pm: Play To Resume At 2:55pm
The rain has stopped and play is about to resume in a couple of minutes.

2:18pm: Rain Interrupts Play
Shubman Gill had just joined Shreyas in the act, striking a sublime six behind square on the leg side in the 10th over. India were motoring along at 79/1 after 9.5 overs when it began pouring down, forcing the umpires to stop play. The covers have come on.

1:59pm: Shreyas Iyer Goes On Boundary Spree
Shreyas Iyer has come out with a plan to dominate from the word go. He is routinely finding the gaps through the off side and putting the Aussie bowlers under pressure. In his 14-ball stay, Shreyas has already hit five boundaries and is batting on 26. India 43/1 after 6.3 overs.

1:47pm: Ruturaj Gaikwad Departs
Josh Hazlewood sends back Ruturaj with a typical good length delivery in the channel outside off. Ruturaj fends at it, only to get the outside edge, and Aussie keeper Alex Carey does the rest. India 16/1 after 3.3 overs. Shreyas Iyer has come out to bat at No. 3.
