Spain Vs Switzerland: ESP Advance To UEFA Women’s Euro Semi-Finals For First Time Since 1997 With 2-0 Win
Spain kept their European dream alive with a hard-fought 2-0 win over hosts Switzerland in Bern, booking a place in their first semi-final since 1997. The world champions missed two penalties, Mariona Caldentey fired wide early, and Alexia Putellas was denied late on, but second-half goals from Athenea del Castillo and Claudia Pina sealed the deal. Switzerland defended valiantly in the first half, with keeper Livia Peng making key saves, but Del Castillo broke the deadlock just over three minutes after coming on, and Pina’s stunning strike wrapped it up. Spain will now face either France or Germany in the semi-finals.
