Goals inside the first four minutes by captain Nazmul Faysal and forward Opu Rahman guided Bangladesh to a comfortable 2-0 win over Pakistan in the first semi-final of SAFF U17 Championship 2025. Pakistan were rattled by the early strikes and never found a way back in the contest. The result meant Bangladesh marched into the final, where they will meet the winner of the second semi-final between India and Nepal.
The two teams have walked out to the pitch after warming up. It is time now for the national anthems: first India's, then Nepal's. Kick-off to follow soon after.
It's time! The match gets underway at the Racecourse International Stadium. India kicking from left right and Nepal from right to left in the first half.
India have expectedly had the better chances in the first 15 minutes of action. A shot has narrowly gone over the crossbar and another been blocked in the nick of time. The Blue Colts seeking some clinicality in the final third.
Nepal have earned a free-kick in a promising position, around 20 metres out from the Indian goal. But the shot is way too high, flying well over the goalpost. India are unscathed and the first half is goalless with 10-odd minutes remaining.
Just a solitary minute added to the first half as stoppage time, and the whistle is blown with the scoreline still at 0-0. India created a bunch of chances but would have wanted to do a lot more from the. Nepal would be the happier of the two sides so far, but 45 full minutes still to come.
The teams return from the mid-match interval and the second half gets underway. India now attacking from right to left and Nepal from left to right. The Blue Colts earn a big chance in the very first minute after resumption, but somehow make a mess of it at the goalmouth.
India finally have their much-awaited opener! Wangkheirakpam Gunleiba is on the prowl at the edge of the box and drills it in from his left foot to put the Blue Colts in front in the 60th minute.
The game is now past the 75-minute mark and Nepal are getting fervent in their attempts to equalise. The Indian defenders foul them to avert their flourishing attacks, which leads to things getting heated up in the midfield. A free-kick from the edge of the box goes to waste, and Nepal's frustration mounts.
What a delightful goal from Azlaan Shah! The substitute curls it beautifully past the Nepal goalie from his left foot to find the back of the net in the 80th minute. India two to the good, and Nepal need a miracle to prevent the Blue Colts' final march.
Four minutes of stoppage time added, and India utilise them to add a third goal! Diamond Singh responds to Azlaan Shah's inch-perfect cross, sliding in to gift-wrap India's victory at the stroke of full time. The final whistle blows soon after, and the Blue Colts rejoice, for they have blanked Nepal 3-0 to set up a final meeting with Bangladesh on September 27.
