After a pretty good start from Girona, the visitors are slowly gaining a foothold in the contest and enjoying more of the ball. Guler has the first shot for Real Madrid from some way away, but it flies just wide of the post.

Real Madrid are inching closer. Mbappe had a golden chance after he intercepted Vanat's poor pass in the box, but the Frenchman blasted his shot over the bar. Madrid continue to push forward, with Fran playing a cross into the box which the Girona defence clear, just about.

The best chance of the match so far for Girona, and it falls to Ounahi. Moments after Tsygankov forced a good save from Courtois from a long way away, Ounahi has another crack at goal from the edge of the penalty area, but it flies inches wide of the post.

Vanat goes down in the Real Madrid box after a tussle with Rudiger. The Girona fans are screaming for a penalty at Montilivi, but Ricardo de Burgos waves away the claims and the play continues.

Mbappe puts Madrid ahead just before the break!! Moments after Gazzaniga made a terrific save to keep Militao's header out, Mbappe pounched on Bellingham's blocked shot to put it in the back of the net.

The goal is overturned by VAR, who decides that there was a handball during the build-up of the goal. We are back to level terms.

Real Madrid's "lead" lasts just four minutes as Ounahi puts the home side ahead at the cusp of half-time. Tsygankov lays it off for the Moroccan, who curls it past Courtois into the top corner from just inside the box. The Montilivi crowd enjoyed that goal!!

It's half-time at Montilivi, and Girona go into the break one goal ahead courtesy of Ounahi's terrific goal towards the end. Work to do for Xabi Alonso's men in the second half.

The referee blows his whistle, and the second half is underway. Girona have a lead to defend, while Madrid have it all to chase in the second half. Los Blancos make a chance at half-time, bringing on Camavinga to replace Guler.

Real Madrid are trying to utilise their full-backs to create a chance, but Girona have dealt with the crosses so far. Fran is the latest one to float a ball into the box from the left, but Gazzaniga stands tall to hold on to it to snuff out the danger.

Cracking saves on both sides of the pitch. Earlier, Gazzaniga pulled of a very good reflex stop to deny Militao's header from finding the back of the net.

Minutes later, Vanat finds himself played through and one-on-one against Courtois. The Ukrainian forward tries to finish to the bottom corner, but the goalkeeper is at full stretch to keep the danger out.

Another goal ruled out for Real Madrid! Vinicius thought he had drawn his side level after finding the back of the net, . However, the linesman flags him for offside when Mbappe played the ball, and Girona hold on to their lead.

Rincon slid in dangerously in the box and caught Vinicius badly, and the referee has no choice but to award a penalty. Mbappe steps up to take the spot kick and makes no mistake form 12 yards out. The scores are level.

A triple change for the home side as Tsygankov, Gil, and Rincon all come off. In their place come Asprilla, Roca, and Frances. Real Madrid also make a change as Rodrygmo takes the place of Tchouameni.

The chances are racking up for Real Madrid. A couple of minutes after Rodrygo had a strong penalty call declined after going down in the box, Mbappe and Vinicius both have cracks at Gazzaniga's goal but cannot keep it on target.

Meanwhile, the home side make two more changes. Vanat and Ounahi come off and are replaced by Kourouma and Ruiz.

Girona have also threatened in phases, with Roca testing Courtois with a close-range effort. Meanwhile, Fran comes off due to injury and is replaced by Carreras. Trent is replaced by Gonzalo Garcia, as Madrid are looking to find a late lead. They have four minutes added on by the fourth official.

The referee blows his whistle to bring the match to an end, and Real Madrid suffer their third consecutive draw in the league. They are now one point behind Barcelona in the La Liga table.
