That’s two goals in two FIFA Club World Cup games for Neto.
13' Flamengo 0-1 Chelsea
It’s halftime at Lincoln Financial Field, with Pedro Neto’s strike the only difference between the two sides. Can Flamengo make an unprecedented comeback in the next 45 minutes?
FLA 0-1 CHE (HT)
The players have returned to the pitch, and the second half is underway at Philadelphia. Flamengo are just one goal down, despite Chelsea’s dominance. Can the Brazilian side cause a shocker in the next 45 minutes?
FLA 0-1 CHE (46’)
A decent chance for Chelsea early on, as Gusto earns a free-kick in a dangerous position. A good ball is floated in, and Cucurella gets a glancing header after finding himself unmarked, but it goes wide off the far post.
The Spaniard then has a lapse of concentration, playing the ball behind for a corner under no pressure from Flamengo. The Brazilian side can’t make much of the opportunity, though.
FLA 0-1 CHE (52’)
A glorious chance for Flamengo as Gerson broke free from three defenders, and then attempted a shot at goal, aiming for the far corner. It spins wide but turns into a cross for Gonzalo Plata, but the striker arrived late and could not poke it past Sanchez.
FLA 0-1 CHE (54’)
Another golden chance for Plata. After a good one-two down the right edge of the box, the ball falls to the Colombian, but he slips while hitting the shot. It’s still on target, and Sanchez did well to tip it over the bar.
Flamengo’s attacking pressure finally pays off, as Chelsea fail to clear the first ball. A terrific ball is played to Plata from the right, and he heads it across the face of goal for substitute Bruno Henrique to head into an empty net.
FLA 0-1 CHE (62’)
What drama! Flamengo take a shock lead, again coming from a set-piece situation. A corner is floated in from the right corner, and it falls to Bruno Henrique. The veteran player heads it towards the far corner, and Danilo, desperately trying to get something on the end of it, pokes it past the goalkeeper.
FLA 2-1 CHE (65’)
What is happening here?! Nicolas Jackson, who came in as a substitute just about four minutes ago, goes in with a high boot and catches Lucas on the shin, and the full-back goes down in pain. The referee shows a straight red card.
FLA 2-1 CHE (68’)
Chelsea are really struggling to string together anything with 10 men, giving away needless fouls. They do get a half-chance from a free-kick routine, as Enzo’s header hits the upside of the net, with the Argentine failing to direct it goalwards.
Flamengo make a double change, bringing on Wallace Yan and Varela. Madueke and Guiu come on for Chelesa in Palmer and Fernandez’s place.
FLA 2-1 CHE (82’)
It’s scrappy, but Flamengo get the third goal. It’s Wallace Yan who gets on the scoresheet, seconds after coming on. The 20-year-old Brazil youth international gets his first goal for Flamengo, playing a terrific one-two with Plata, and gets ahead of the defenders after a stroke of luck and finishes it past Sanchez.
FLA 3-1 CHE (83’)
Chelsea are pushing hard in the seven minutes of extra time to get a second goal, and Madueke goes down in a questionable manner in the penalty box. No dice from the referee, and play goes on.
FLA 3-1 CHE (90+3’)
It’s all over at Philadelphia, and Flamengo have shocked the Conference League winners. The Brazilian side have two wins in two, and taught 10-man Chelsea a lesson in determination today!
