Real Madrid 2-2 Elche Highlights, La Liga: Bellingham Steals Point For Wasteful Los Blancos

Elche have tried to control the possession in the early stages of the game, but Madrid almost hit them on the attack with a swift move, but Rodrygo's shot went over the bar. Warning signs from Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are slowly establishing their dominance on the ball, and Mbappe had an early sight of goal after being played through by Asencio, but dragged his effort wide. Andre Silva, meanwhile, sees his headed effort go wide of the right post. No clear cut chances in the match so far.

The chances are starting to be created now, and it's Rafa Mir who tests Courtois' goal for the first time tonight. He got at the end of a good cross from Fort and had plenty underneath the shot, but it was too central and straight at the Belgian keeper.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, win a corner after Trent's cross is deflected behind. The ball comes into the box and Asencio, with the goal gaping in front of him, heads it wide of the post. What a chance for Madrid!!

The better chances have started to fall to Madrid, with Guler combining with Garcia to have a shot from outside the box. However, it flows just over the bar.

With half an hour of the match played – and it has been quite an attacking half for both sides – the quality of finishing needs to improve from the visitors if they want to break this Elche defence.

Mbappe has another chance to put his side ahead before the break. However, not for the first time tonight, he can't get the better of Pena, who, interestingly, is on loan from Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Real continue to push ahead with all their intent, and Trent floats in a ball into the box from a corner, but it's grabbed onto be Pena. The goalkeeper has been on fire today.

Madrid were almost hit before the break as Diangana played a terrific through pass into Silva in the Madrid box. The Portuguese forward had a shot at goal, and Courtois did well go get down and grab on to it.

Madrid counter immediately through Rodrygo, and he wins a corner. The resulting ball into the box from Trent comes to nothing.

The singular minute of added time flows by, and the referee blows his whistle to bring the first half to an end. Madrid have had two shots on target, both from Mbappe, but Pena has been quite terrific. Both sides, however, need to up their finishing game. The first half ends goalless.

The players are out of the tunnel, and the referee gets the second half of the match underway. Can Madrid get the breakthrough in the second half? Stay tuned!

Elche take the lead!! It's Aleix Febas who gets his name on the scoresheet and puts the underdogs ahead in the second half.

Madrid have been extremely wasteful with their chances throughout the match, and it seems to have come to haunt them now that the home side are ahead.

Xabi Alonso responds to going behind by bringing on three players. Rodrygo's night is done as he is replaced by his Brazil compatriot Vinicius Jr. Fede Valverde replaces Fran, and Camavinga comes on in place of Ceballos.

Vini's introduction has given Madrid a bit more pace up top, and Alonso shores up the attack with the introduction of Gonzalo Garcia, who replaces Arda Guler. Can the Castilla youngster be the difference maker tonight?

Meanwhile, Elche make a double change, bringing on Adria Pedrosa and Martim Neto in place of Fort and Diangana.

Asencio is the latest one to have a wayward attempt, with his headed effort from a corner kick flying way over the crossbar. Madrid, surprisingly, have had just one shot on target in the entire second half. It has been a very good defensive performance from the home side.

Absolute heartbreak for Elche, and Madrid equalise from the corner kick through Huijsen. The ball into the box by Trent was flicked by Bellingham and fell to the Spanish defender, who finished past Pena from close range to level the scores.

Elche have retaken the lead!! Just moments after making a double change, the home side go ahead as Alvaro Rodriguez – a former Real Madrid player – puts the ball into the back of the net past Courtois.

It was an excellent finish from the Uruguay youth international, receiving the ball at the centre circle and then covering the entire distance before finishing past the goalkeeper.

Elche's lead lasts just three minutes as Mbappe, guilty of missing a couple of chances tonight, turns provider for Bellingham to finish past Pena.

Madrid really push hard to get the winner in the eight minutes of added time, with Gonzalo Garcia coming extremely close. Elche, however, hold on to get a valuable point from Los Blancos, despite going down to ten men in the 96th minute after Chust saw a second yellow card.

The draw is nothing less than the hosts deserved, though, having played their hearts out tonight. Madrid, meanwhile, will rue to missed chances as they drop points on the road again.
