Good morning, we are back with another live blog as Colombia take on DR Congo in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K clash. Stay tuned for all the live updates, action and analysis from the match.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be telecast live on Unite8 Sports network on television. For live streaming, one can catch the action on the Zee5 app and website.
We're off. Colombia rolls the ball forward from the centre spot at Estadio Guadalajara, and we're officially underway. The whistle's gone, the crowd's roaring, and this one's in motion.
Munoz should have buried it. Mojica comes flying down the left flank, picks out space and curls it back for Suarez right there on the spot. The striker gets a strike away, Mpasi's forced into a proper stretch to palm it out, but the ball spills loose.
Munoz's onto it in a flash, beats the keeper to the rebound, and has the goal gaping in front of him. Somehow he drags it wide. The Leopards' keeper got lucky there.
Masuaku nicks it away from Munoz near the sideline, but Munoz's follow-through catches him on the shin. Looks like a nothing challenge, bit of shin-on-shin stuff. The DR Congo player's up and moving, nothing serious there. Mariani waves it on, no whistle. Colombia get the throw-in and we move on.
Colombia's been relentless here. Five shots on target in the opening half hour, that's the most we've seen in the first 20 minutes of any World Cup match this tournament. They're making the Leopards work for every inch of it.
It's 0-0 at the break, but Colombia's been relentless. They've created everything, Mpasi's made six saves already, and Munoz should've had at least one. The Leopards have barely got a foot in it, managing just 35 per cent possession and looking lost going forward. All one-way traffic so far.
Sadiki's on for DR Congo, replacing Mukau in midfield as they look to freshen things up at the break.
Finally! Munoz's got it. Lerma shoves Banza aside and flicks it out to Quintero, who threads it through the lines for Cordoba. The striker's got his back to goal, but he lets it run through and Munoz's there in a flash. Takes it first time, picks his spot at the near post, and slots it past Mpasi. That's the breakthrough Colombia's been searching for. 1-0 Cafeteros.
Quintero's corner comes in, Mbemba glances it away, and Puerta has a crack from 30 yards. Mpasi has to throw his whole body in front of it, but it spills loose into the box. There's a scramble, and for a moment Mariani looks like he's pointing to the spot for handball. But he takes another look and changes his mind, it's a free-kick to DR Congo instead. Drama defused.
That's it. Colombia hold on. One goal is all they need, and Munoz's finish in the 76th has done the job. They're through to the knockouts and top of Group K. Mpasi kept them in it for as long as he could with some proper shot-stopping, but the Cafeteros' quality finally told. A tense finish, but the job's done.
As the group stage continues, the following nations have officially booked their places in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32: Mexico (Group A), United States (Group D), Germany (Group E), France (Group I), Norway (Group I), Argentina (Group J), and Colombia (Group K).
That’s a wrap on this live blog. We’ll be back with another live coverage soon -- until then, goodbye.
