The fourth offiical indicates a minimum of five minutes to be added on at the end of the ninety minutes. Benfica are well and truly in control of the tie, dominating the ball, and a comeback looks unlikely at the moment from Fenerbahce.
The fourth offiical indicates a minimum of five minutes to be added on at the end of the ninety minutes. Benfica are well and truly in control of the tie, dominating the ball, and a comeback looks unlikely at the moment from Fenerbahce.
An already difficult task for Fenerbahce just got much, much tougher. Talisca, who got a yellow card just a couple of minutes ago, catches Barrenechea on the face with a flaying arm, and the referee immediately brandishes a second yellow card. Fener are down to 10 men.
Fenerbahce players are arguing, and Talisca claps sarcastically as he makes his way to the tunnel.
Benfica make a double change, with Franjo Ivanovic replacing Pavlidis, and Andreas Schjelderup replacing the goalscorer Akturkoglu.
Talisca, meanwhile, has an effort from a long way away. Howevr, the connection was just not there, and it goes wide of the far post, although Trubin was at full stretch.
Fenerbahce had the best chance of the game so far, and it fell to En-Nesyri in the box. A brilliant cross into the box is met by the Moroccan, and his header is a deft one. Everyone in the stadium thought it was going in, and Trubin was beaten, but it crashed against the woodwork and went out.
Talisca has another good effort just a couple of minutes later, but his header from inside the box is also just over the bar. Fener are growing into the match.
A slightly mistimed tackle from Barreiro on Yuksek, and the Portuguese gets a yellow card for his efforts. Bruno Lage does not look comfortable on the sidelines, as he knows that a one-goal lead is never enough, despite his side dominating the proceedings.
Fenerbahce need goals, and Mourinho brings on Jhon Duran and Oguz Aydin. Archie Brown and Mert Muldur come off.
Meanwhile, Pavlidis has another good effort with the head. A free-kick is floated into the box by Akturkoglu, and the Greek striker jumped over everyone, but his effort was inches wide off the left post.
A really good corner is played into the box, and Antonio Silva is right in the middle of the box completely unmarked. He leaps and heads towards the left post, but it's a bit too central, allowing Livakovic to get down and get a strong hand on it. Silva can't believe that he didn't score from that chance!
The tempo of the game has dropped a little bit. Benfica move ahead in numbers, and the ball is floated in towards the box by Aursnes, and Pavlidis almost got at the end of it. However, the linesman flags for offside, although it was a very marginal call.
A much-more controlled start to the second half from Fenerbahce, but the final ball has been relaly poor from the Turkish side, and Benfica defence have rarely been put under pressure so far. Benfica, on the other hand, look really dangerous every time they break forward.
The referee blows his whistle, and the second half is underway in Lisbon. One change for Jose Mourinho's side as Sofyan Amrabat, who was booked in the first half, comes off for Ismail Yuksek.
Slavko Vincic blows his whistle, bringing an end to a very eventful half of football. The first goal of the tie came from Kerem Akturkoglu, although Benfica saw a couple of goals ruled out for offside.
What will Mourinho say this his players in the dressing room, and what effect will it have? A big second half awaits.
Fenerbahce tried to threaten in the odd moments, but the Benfica defence is holding strong. Six minutes added on by the fourth official.
Benfica should be disappointed having scored just one goal in the first half, with Akturkoglu and Pavlidis having a number of chances to increase their lead. Barreriro sees his latest effort fly wide of the left post, but Benfica are looking dangerous.
Eight shots from the Portuguese giants, compared to just three for Fenerbahce.
Benfica's attacking intent finally pays off, as Aursnes is played through on the right flank. He crosses it back, but Skriniar somehow manages to clear only as far as Barreiro. The Benfica attacker plays it to Aktorkoglu on the left edge of the box, and the Turk curls the ball towards the top left corner that completely evades Livakovic's reach.
Amrabat tries to stamp his authority in the game with a crunching tackle, but he earns himself a booking from the Slavio Vincic. First yellow card for Fenerbahce.
Barreiro puts the ball into hte back of the net, and he wheels away in celebration. However, the joy is short lived, as the linesman signals a foul in the buildup. There's a VAR check, and replays show Barreiro having the slighest of touches on Dahl's back before the header, and the referee confirms the foul.
There's a lengthy VAR check, and the referee is asked to go and check on the pitch-side monitor. He takes a long, hard look, and decides NO GOAL! Barreiro did not have a touch on the ball, but he was adjudged to impede with Trubin's ability to clear the ball.
Meanwhile, Semedo seems to have tweaked a muscle, and goes off the pitch. On comes Caglar Soyuncu.
Pavlidis is proving to be a menace up front for Benfica, as the Greek striker found himself in the perfect place inside the box slot it home, but the Fener defence makes a last-ditch block to concede the corner.
From the resulting corner, Antonio Silva has an absolutely free header from the centre of the box. The ball was creeping just in, and Barreira seems to poke it home. There's a VAR check going on about whether Barreiro had a touch on the ball, which would probably rule the goal out for offside.
A brilliant start from Benfica, and they had a chance to cap it off with a goal. Pavlidis was played through down the left and squared it back across the face of the goal, finding the onrushing Barreiro, but his shot was too central and Pavlovic does well to get a hand on it.
The second leg is underway in Lisbon. With the aggregate score still standing at 0-0, the onus will be on both sides to get the first goal of the tie. Stay tuned!
The referee for tonight's match is 45-year-old Slavko Vincic from Slovenia.
