Algeria claimed all three points with a 2-0 win over Iraq on the third and final matchday of FIFA Arab Cup 2025, at the Khalifa International Stadium in Al-Rayyan, Qatar on Tuesday (December 9). The defending champions needed a draw to seal their quarter-final berth but got more than that to finish as Group D toppers. Algeria's cause was aided after Iraq’s Hussein Ali was sent off as early as the fifth minute, and they took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Redouane Berkane nodded a free-kick back across the face of goal, where it was headed home by Mohamed Amine Tougai. Later, confusion between Iraq goalkeeper Fahad Talib and defender Saad Natiq led to an own goal that sealed Algeria's victory. The group toppers will face UAE, while Iraq meet Jordan in the quarter-finals. Catch the highlights and key updates from the ALG vs IRQ match, as it happened.
