Algeria Vs Iraq Highlights, FIFA Arab Cup: ALG 2-0 IRQ; Defending Champs Ease Into QFs, Finish On Top Of Group D

Greetings and welcome, everyone. The FIFA Arab Cup group-stage is nearing conclusion and a sole knockout spot from Group D is up for grabs. Algeria are close to getting it and aiming to seal that tonight. Hang around for the build-up and live updates.

Iraq, who are already through to the quarters, are on top with six perfect points, while Algeria are second with four. Sudan have one points and a much worse goal difference than Algeria, which means it would take something miraculous for the Falcons of Jediane to overtake the defending champs. Bahrain are out of contention with zero points.

Hussein Ali has been dramatically sent off in the fifth minute! He was initially shown a yellow card for a foul in the second minute, but upon VAR review, the referee makes it a straight red. Hussein Ali is utterly disconsolate and has to be literally dragged off the pitch.

Algeria haven't done enough to capitalize on the one-man advantage over Iraq yet. They only need a draw to confirm a quarter-final berth, however, which could be a cause for their approach.

At the Education City Stadium, Bahrain have taken the lead in the 37th minute. Abdulla Alkhalasi comes up with an inch-perfect assisting pass and Abdoul Jabbar gleefully drives it in past the Sudan goalie. The Falcons of Jediane's remote chances of snatching a quarter-final berth are quickly evaporating.

Mohamed Amine Tougai scores for Algeria in stoppage time! He finds the back of the net, latching on to Redouane Berkane's assist, but the referee opts for a VAR check to look up a foul. The goal stands, and the defending champions are in the lead, going into the mid-game interval.

Iraq make a couple if substitutions before second-half kick-off. Akam Hashim comes in for Matham, and Ali Jasim replaces Amjed Attwan. The referee signals the start, soon after.

Algeria double their lead in no time! Suad Natiq's own goal means Algeria not only have one foot into the quarter-finals, but they also are in an excellent position to top the group.

Adil Boulbina takes a crack on the Iraq goal in the 63rd minute but goalkeeper Fahad Talib denies him. Four minutes later, Algeria bring Houssem Mrezigue in for Victor Lekhal.

At the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich are locked 0-0 with Sporting CP in the Champions League after the first half. Bayern, under Vincent Kompany, are looking to bounce back after a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in their last European outing, which saw them slip from top spot in the group.

The Bavarians, however, remain formidable at home, unbeaten in their last 36 Champions League matches at the Allianz, and come into this clash fresh from a 5-0 Bundesliga win over Stuttgart where Harry Kane netted a hat-trick. Sporting CP, meanwhile, sit eighth in the standings and face a tough test against the German champions.

After about five minutes of injury time, the referee blows the whistle to end the second half. Algeria ease to a 2-0 win that takes them to the quarter-finals as Group D toppers. Iraq had already sealed their berth, but will go through as the second-placed team from the group.

Both Algeria and Iraq will play their quarter-final games on December 12. Iraq face Jordan at the Education City Stadium in Al-Rayyan, while Algeria take on UAE at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
