'Play!' says the umpire and we are underway. Zeeshan Ali and Anshuman Rath in the middle. Nuwan Thushara has the new white ball. Let us go!
A very interesting start to the game. Nuwan Thushara got Zeeshan Ali on the fourth ball of the match only for the call to be overturned after DRS. Then Ali was dropped on the last ball of the first over. A lot is happening here in Dubai.
Just four runs and a wicket in the final two overs of thee powerplay. Dushmantha Chameera got the first wicket for Sri Lanka in the fifth over as he had Zeeshan Ali caught behind. That over just went for three runs and then Maheesh Theekshana closed the powerplay with a one-run over. A good start from Hong Kong but control has been taken over by Sri Lanka in the final two overs of the field restrictions.
Babar Hayat is gone! Wanindu Hasaranga gets his first wicket of the night. Hayat can only get four off 10 balls and Sri Lanka are really tightening things up here. Hong Kong have just 19 runs in last 30 balls.
39 runs from 26 balls between Anshuman Rath and Nizakat Khan. A good partnership so far that has brought Hong Kong back on track after a shaky few overs in between. Hong Kong will now aim for a big finish and will hope to get to 160. That will really make this clash interesting.
Dushmantha Chameera breaks the 61-run partnership and takes his second wicket of the night. Anshuman Rath falls just two ahead of his half-century and Hong Kong are three down now.
Only six runs from the final over and Hong Kong get to 149. An overall good batting performance from Hong Kong. Nizakat Khan will walk back with his head held high. 52 from 38 balls for Nizakat. Opener Anshuman Rath too played a calm knock of 48. Dushmantha Chameera starred for Sri Lanka with two wickets for just 29 runs in his four overs.
Sri Lanka need 150 runs to win. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis will open the batting for Sri Lanka.
WICKET! Ayush Shukla strikes and the slow start takes its first victim for Sri Lanka. Kusal Mendis is caught at deep mid-wicket for 11 off 14. This wicket will definitely add to the drama of the match. The new man in the middle is Kamil Mishara, the Player of the Match in Sri Lanka's opening game.
Too much pressure on Pathum Nissanka who has done well on his end to reach 22 from 15 in the powerplay. However, the other end has been the problem for Sri Lanka. Just 13 runs afrom 21 deliveries by other batters. Things need to speed up for Sri Lanka but Hong Kong would like to keep applying this pressure.
Sri Lanka need 115 runs in 84 balls
Kamil Mishara departs and Sri Lanka have been put under further pressure. Sri Lankan fans would look towards Pathum Nissanka who is now set at 33 off 26. The required run rate is now 8.5. Hong Kong will need a few more tight overs and they could really become favourites here.
Sri Lanka need 85 runs in 60 balls
Pathum Nissanka is running away with this game but he has been aided by two dropped catches already. He has now raced to 68 off 44 balls and the equation for Sri Lanka to win this game has also become very manageable
Just 32 needed from 30
Sri Lanka need 28 runs in 22 balls
Okay then we have a twist in the middle. Pathum Nissanka is run out and his partner Kusal Perera too is gone in the same over. And right on the second ball of this over, Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka too departs. Hong Kong can make something happen here. Dasun Shanaka is in the middle and Hong Kong can get him, this match will turn on its head.
Sri Lanka win by four wickets to send Hong Kong back to home without a win. But the Hong Kong players would be proud of their effort. It took a nine-ball 20 not out from Wanindu Hasaranga to bring SL out of a tricky situation. Pathum Nissanka starred earlier with a brilliant 68 but Hong Kong will rue their missed chances.
HK 149/4 (20)
SL 153/6 (18.5)
Sri Lanka won by 4 wkts
Pathum Nissanka is the Player of the Match as he should be. A brilliant innings of 68 when his team was in a spot of bother. He has been among the best Sri Lankan players in the last one year and he yet again continues to improve.
To wins in two games for Sri Lanka. Hong Kong go back home with three defeats in their three games. Sri Lanka will play their last Group B game against Afghanistan which could very well become a knockout game.
