Pakistan handed an one-sided defeat to South Africa to win the 3-match ODI series by 2-1. Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed, who was adjudged man of the match, starred with their performances and guided their side to a 7-wicket victory.
South Africa had won the toss and went to bat first. Right after a very good brief partnership of Quinton de Kock (53) and Lhuan Dre Pretorius (39), the Proteas suffered an embarrassing top and middle-order collapse which saw them get all out for just 143.
Other than de Kock and Pretorious, no other batter could even score 20 runs with Matthew Breetzke and Nqaba Peter the only ones to score 16 runs. Tony de Zorzi, Rubin Hermann, Donovan Ferreira. Corbin Bosch and Bjorn Fortuin shared just 13 runs between themselves.
The stage was set on fire by Abrar Ahmed, who led the pack with figures of 4/27 with a maiden in his 10-over spell.
The Men in Green chased the 144-run target within 26 overs. Saim Ayub smacked a classic knock of 77 off 70 with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also playing their parts by scoring 27 and 32 respectively.
With this, Pakistan claimed their first-ever series win over South Africa on home soil. Up next, the Proteas will be heading to India for an all-format series featuring 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.
