Noman Ali fires one in to Verreynne, and that nearly sneaks through! It comes in with a bit of bite, skimming low on off, but Verreynne reads it perfectly and chops it off to third man for a single. Noman Ali can only clasp his head in disbelief, so close, yet so far.

South Africa head into lunch with 140 still needed for victory. It’s been a lively first session, 86 runs on the board, four wickets down, and Dewald Brevis once again the star of the show. His punchy 54 off 54, laced with six fours and two sixes, gave South Africa the spark they needed. His attacking intent let Rickelton settle in and nearly see through the session. The chase is bubbling nicely, still anyone’s game after lunch.

Noman Ali finally conjures up the magic delivery, just what was needed to break through. It pitches on leg and crashes into the top of off stump. Brevis can only stand there, utterly clueless, as the woodwork shatters behind him. That’s 55 off 54 for him, with 6 fours and 2 towering sixes. Pakistan finally gets the breakthrough.

Hasan Ali zips one in to Brevis, and there’s an enormous shout for LBW! But it looks like it’s drifting down leg, no review from Pakistan. The ball nips in sharply from a good length, brushes a tiny inside edge onto the pad, and trickles wide of mid-wicket. Even the fielders aren’t sure, so they wisely let this one go. Just a single, and a massive collective sigh from the crowd.

Rickelton’s back on strike, and Noman Ali fires in a pitch just a tad short. Rickelton dances down the track, gets right under it, and whips it beautifully to long-on for a quick single, classy footwork there.

Next ball, Ali floats one full around off, tempting Rickelton to play. He goes for the push back, but mistimes it completely, no run, just a sigh of relief from the bowler. Rickelton will want to get that one back.

Shaheen Afridi’s on a roll here. First up, Rickelton gets a chance to stretch the arms, pushed outside off, he drives it crisply to a wide mid-off for a single. Quick off the mark!

Next ball, Brevis faces a full swinging one coming in on middle and leg. He stays calm, presents a straight bat, and just eases it to mid-on. No run, but smart cricket from him, keeping things ticking without taking unnecessary risks.

Shaheen Afridi steams in, and de Zorzi barely gets a feather of it—no run! That one darted back from a good length outside off, skimming low and jagging away just enough. de Zorzi flings his bat skywards in desperation, and the ball zips past the off-stump, so close it almost left a kiss mark! You can bet his heart skipped a beat there.
