A massive unbeaten hundred from South Africa opener Tazmin Brits, complemented with a ton by skipper Laura Wolvaardt guided the Proteas to a 25-run (DLS method) win over Pakistan in the second women's ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday (September 19, 2025). With the victory, the visitors clinched the three-match series 2-0.
Brits hit a career-best unbeaten 171 off just 141 balls and her opening partner Wolvaardt struck 100 off 129 deliveries as South Africa posted a 292-run total in 46 overs as rain halted play.
Chasing a revised target of 313 in 46 overs, the hosts were well placed at 247 for three in the 38th over, with Sidra Amin cracking a superb 122 off 110 balls and Natalia Pervaiz (73 off 60) giving her company with a half-century. But Amin's wicket opened the floodgates and Pakistan were all out for 287 runs in 44.4 overs.
Brits was deservedly named the Player of the Match for her game-changing performance.
The third and final ODI, now rendered a dead rubber but offering vital preparation for the upcoming Women's World Cup, will be played at the same venue on September 22.
The South Africa women’s team had defeated Pakistan Women's by eight wickets in the first ODI. Marizanne Kapp and Tasmin Brits scored centuries for South Africa to help the side chase down 256 with 10 balls left in the contest. Sidra Amin's unbeaten 121 for Pakistan had gone in vain.
Pakistan had entered the series full of confidence after an unbeaten run in the 2025 World Cup Qualifier, where they won all five matches under the leadership of Fatima Sana. However, they could not continue their winning run in home conditions.
PAK-W won the toss and opted to bowl first.
