  • PAK beat SA by two wickets in nervy finish at Faisalabad

  • Dewald Brevis was earlier ruled out of match with a shoulder strain

  • Sinethemba Qeshile, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Donovan Ferreira made ODI debuts for SA

Pakistan held their nerve at the end to clinch a narrow two-wicket win over South Africa in the 1st ODI to be played at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Tuesday (November 4, 2025), of their three-match series.

Pakistan tailenders hung to reach 264-8 in the last over as South Africa fought gallantly to claim four wickets in the last five overs and pushed the hosts to the limit.

Earlier, the Proteas, which lost its sixth straight toss across formats on its tour of Pakistan, couldn’t capitalize on half-centuries from debutant Lhuan-dre Pretorius (57) and Quinton de Kock (63) before getting dimissed for 263 in 49.1 overs.

Salman Ali Agha (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (55) slammed fifties for the hosts but a collapse from the middle-order saw Pakistan surrender yet another game but skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi made sure there were no more hiccups.
