Nepal lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by six wickets (DLS method) in the first T20 international at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur on Monday (April 20, 2026).

Nepal, batting first, had struggled to 122 for 8 in 18.5 overs before rain stopped play. Upon resumption, it was reduced to a 10-over contest and the target adjusted to 78 runs. Muhammad Zuhaib was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with figures of 3/29 in four overs.
In response, UAE captain Muhammad Waseem (33 off 15) gave his team a blazing start as the visitors chased down the revised target in 8.5 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. This was Nepal’s first-ever international cricket fixture under floodlights at home.
Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first against UAE.

The series has been dubbed the Under Lights T20I Series, with encounters on back-to-back evenings. Dipendra Singh Airee leads The Rhinos for the series, while Rohit Paudel has been named captain for the subsequent Cricket World Cup League 2 games involving UAE and Oman.
The Nepal vs UAE T20I series will be broadcast live on Kantipur TV Max in Nepal, while fans in India and the rest of the world can stream the matches on the MSM Video app.
