Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Punjab (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma(c), Harnoor Singh, Prabhsimran Singh(w), Anmolpreet Singh, Naman Dhir, Ramandeep Singh, Krish Bhagat, Sukhdeep Bajwa, Mayank Markande, Gurnoor Brar, Harpreet Brar
Mumbai (Playing XI): Shreyas Iyer(c), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Tamore(w), Sairaj Patil, Shams Mulani, Onkar Tukaram Tarmale, Shashank Attarde
Both the flamboyant openers of Punjab - Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh are on the crease. Sharma started off things for Punjab with a sublime boundary. MUM would like to see the back of these openers early otherwise they could get off PUN to a flying start.
Mumbai have ripped into Punjab's top-order with 3 early wickets including the dangerous Abhishek Sharma (8). Sairaj B Patil got the big scalp of Abhishek Sharma, while Onkar Tarmale dismissed skipper Prabhsimran Singh and Harnoor Singh.
Anmolpreet Singh (19*) and Naman Dhir (19*) have stitched a 29-run ongoing partnership for the 4th wicket to stabilize things a bit for Punjab. However, their job is still far from over and PUN will like this partnership to go on for as long as possible.
Just as it was looking that Punjab are crawling back into the game, they lost the key wicket of Naman Dhir for 22. All-rounder Shivam Dubey castled Dhir to get Mumbai their fourth wicket. Ramandeep Singh joins Anmolpreet Singh (22*) on the crease.
Anmolpreet Singh (28*) and Ramandeep Singh (28*) have forged an 35-run ongoing stand for Punjab for the fifth wicket. This is a crucial partnership for PUN and it is vital for both these batters to bat till the end and take their team to a competitive total against a strong MUM batting unit.
Anmolpreet Singh (57*) and Ramandeep Singh (49*) have stabilized the innings for Punjab to a great extent with a -- run partnership. However, their job is still not over as one wicket from here could again change things in favour of MUM.
As they say one bring another, it's been the same case with Punjab as Musheer Khan dismissed the veteran Anmolpreet Singh for 57 which was then followed by Krish Bhagat's wicket by Shashank Attarde for a duck.
Punjab are 7 down against against Mumbai with the departure of Ramandeep Singh for 72. Shashank Attarde got the big scalp and with this we are now into the tail-enders of Punjab's batting line-up.
Gurnoor Brar is dismissed for 1 by Musheer Khan to bundle Punjab for 216 in 45.1 runs. Khan turned out to be the highest wicket-taker for MUM with 3 wickets in his kitty, while Ramandeep Singh (72) and Anmolpreet Singh (57) slammed fifties to take PUN to 216 after an early collapse.
Mumbai openers - Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Musheer Khan have got their team to a cautious start. It's a new opening pair as Yashasvi Jaiswal has joined the Indian team for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.
Mumbai lose their first wicket in the form of Musheer Khan but unfortunately for PUN it brings the in-form Sarfaraz Khan on crease who set the stage ablaze from get go as he moves to 30 in just 8 balls.
Sarfaraz Khan smashed a 15-ball fifty to make it a one-side chase for Mumbai. Although MUM lost the wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi amid the frenzy by Sarfaraz Khan but with now only 79 runs needed in 36 overs, MUM are closing in at another victory against PUN.
Gurnoor Brar picked up two back-to-back wickets of dangerous Suryakumar Yadav (15) and Shivam Dubey (12) to add some spice in the game but it seems a bit late for PUN as MUM just need 25 runs to win in 30 overs.
What a thrilling we witnessed today. Mayank Markande turned the match upside down to register a 1-run win for Punjab against Mumbai. Despite a 20-ball 62 by Mumbai fell short by 1 run from the modest target of 216 runs.
Markande scalped the priced wickets of Sarfaraz Khan and Shreyas Iyer to win it along with the last two wickets of Shashank Attarde and Omkar Tarmale to snatch victory for his team from the jaws of defeat.
That's a wrap from our end. We'll meet soon with another blog, until then, bye bye.
