And we’re off! Mohammad Naeem takes strike alongside Fakhar Zaman as Lahore Qalandars look to set the tone, while Moeen Ali charges in to open the bowling for Karachi Kings. The stage is set.
And boom! Mir Hamza serves it up too straight, and Mohammad Naeem doesn’t miss, he swivels on the pads and smashes it over deep square leg for a massive SIX! What a start.
Abdullah Shafique steps down the track, looking to cut across the line, but Mir Hamza is on point. He angles it away from the right-hander, and Shafique ends up getting beaten, no run from that delivery.
Hasan Ali fires in a shortish delivery just outside off, and Abdullah Shafique leans back on the back foot to punch it neatly to cover. A tidy shot, but no run comes off this one.
And that’s a big blow for Lahore! Parvez Hossain Emon is out LBW, falling prey to Salman Agha’s perfect delivery. Trying to up the strike rate, Emon goes for the sweep but picks the wrong ball, straight down the middle, and he’s struck dead in front.
The review goes in favor of Warner and Karachi, and just like that, wickets in back-to-back overs. Emon departs for 12 off 12, including a six.
Abbas Afridi over-steps, giving away a no-ball, and Haseebullah Khan makes him pay, tucking it wide of deep square leg for two runs. And it’s a free-hit coming up, pressure mounting for Abbas.
Sikandar Raza’s struggle ends as Abbas Afridi strikes! Raza goes for a shot but Khushdil Shah is sharp in the deep, holding on for the catch. Raza departs for 19 off 21, with a boundary and a six to his name.
Hasan Ali delivers a very full one outside off, and Haseebullah Khan calmly jams it down to third man for a single. Steady running keeps the scoreboard ticking.
And just like that, another wicket for Karachi! Adam Zampa strikes as Usama Mir falls LBW trying an ambitious scoop. He plants his front foot across, misses completely, and the ball crashes into middle stump. A puzzling review attempt goes against him, and Mir departs for just 1 off 3.
Hasan Ali strikes again! He lands a perfect yorker, hitting the popping crease and leaving Haseebullah Khan helpless. The batter tries to get his bat down in time but fails, and Hasan Ali erupts as the ball shatters the off-stump. Haseebullah goes for 28 off 30, with a boundary and a six along the way.
Lahore Qalandars post 128/9 in a tricky 20-over innings, never really finding their rhythm on a pitch that refused to cooperate. The surface kept the ball low and slow, making timing a nightmare for the batters. Abdullah Shafique tried to spark some momentum with a lively 33, and Haseebullah Khan battled hard for his 28, but Karachi Kings’ bowlers kept the Qalandars in check throughout.
Adam Zampa was the standout, expertly using the difficult conditions to finish with impressive figures of 2 for 11. While the total is modest, the challenging pitch means Lahore’s pace attack could still make life difficult if they strike early. The stage is set, can Karachi chase it down, or will Lahore pull off a spectacular defense?
We’re back for the chase! David Warner takes strike alongside Muhammad Waseem as Karachi Kings look to chase down 129. Shaheen Afridi charges in to open the attack, and the tension is already building, can Karachi navigate this tricky pitch?
Haris Rauf gets punished for a short ball as Saad Baig rocks back and pulls it hard in front of square on the on-side for FOUR. That was hit with real authority.
And just like that, Mustafizur Rahman strikes! Saad Baig mistimes a shot and edges it low to Haseebullah Khan, who dives forward to take a sharp catch. Baig departs for 19 off 21, including three boundaries, as Mustafizur makes an immediate impact in his first over.
Ubaid Shah bowls a delivery Moeen Ali clips gently into the mid-wicket region. The fielder in the deep is quick to react, so Ali can only take a single. Steady running keeps the scoreboard moving.
Usama Mir tempts Muhammad Waseem with a wristy shot, but he only manages a soft leading edge straight back to the bowler. No run this time as Mir keeps him in check.
Shaheen Afridi strikes at just the right moment, breaking the crucial partnership. He fires in a short delivery outside off, and Muhammad Waseem goes for the upper cut, but it’s perfectly placed into the hands of Usama Mir. Waseem departs for a fighting 38 off 37, with three boundaries and a six.
Mustafizur Rahman bowls a short one outside off, and Khushdil Shah struggles to get full control over the pull. He manages to tuck it into the vacant deep mid-wicket for a single.
Just 14 runs needed off the final over, and Haris Rauf is handed the ball. Can he hold his nerve under pressure? Lahore Qalandars are carefully adjusting their field, making sure every fielder is in the right spot for the showdown.
What a moment! Haris Rauf strikes as Khushdil Shah goes for a big shot to cow corner. Sikandar Raza times it perfectly in the deep, taking a stunning catch just inside the boundary, keeping his balance and making sure he doesn’t go over the fence. Khushdil departs for 13 off 14, with a lone boundary.
Karachi Kings defeated Lahore Qalandars by four wickets in the Pakistan Super League on Sunday, March 29 at Gaddafi Stadium, chasing 129 with three balls to spare. Lahore Qalandars managed 128/9 on a tough pitch, with Abdullah Shafique scoring 33, while Adam Zampa starred with 2/11. In reply, Muhammad Waseem’s 38 guided Karachi Kings home despite Shaheen Afridi’s 4/18, with Zampa named Player of the Match.
