The Gorkhas finished 3rd in the group stage after winning 5 out of their 7 league matches while the Lions were fourth in the table as they won 4 out of the 7 matches they featured in.

The first over of the eliminator is done and the Gorkhas had a cautious start. Lions started with the spin of J.J. Smut and the batter played it without much risk.

Not the start Gorkhas would have liked in such an important match. They have lost 2 early wickets inside just 3 overs. They need a partnership to stabilize the innings. Kushal Malla and Trumpelmann are the bowlers who got the wickets.

Aadil Alam gets on top of the short one and opens the face beautifully, guiding it past third man for a clean, effortless four.

Gorkhas fought well in the end with the end 3 wickets adding 59 runs to take them to 111 which would give their bowlers something to fight for. Skipper Rohit Paudel and Sher Malla picked 3 wickets each to break the back of KAG's innings. LUL need 112 to win in 20 overs.

LUL begin their chase of 112 in a aggressive manner. Former Australian opener D'Arcy Short takes down KAG's premier bowler for 11 runs in the 1st over.

After an aggressive start in the 1st over by the Lions, Gorkhas have pulled things back and halted Lions' run-rate along with picking up the wicket of Dinesh Adhikari.

We are now into the last quarter of the match with Lions needing 63 runs off 60 balls with 8 wickets. It's Lions to lose from here but it's a knockout game and anything could happen on a tricky pitch in a low-scoring encounter.

In the last 2 overs, LUL batters have put the foot on the accelerator and scored 18 runs of 12 balls but also lost the wicket of the set D'Arcy Short. Rashid Khan was the bowler who got the wicket. LUL now need 45 runs off 48 balls with 7 wickets in hand.

The Lions are now on the verge of victory, needing just 6 runs more in 18 balls with 5 wickets in hand. But wait, as he are writing and Karan KC gets the wicket of Niroshan Dickwell (14). Is there sting left in the match. LUL need 6 runs and they have 4 wickets left.

Trumpelmann hits the winning boundary and with it LUL beat KAG by 4 wickets to play the Biratnagar Kings in Qualifier 2 of NPL 2025. D'Arcy Short topped the scored with 33 runs in a low scoring encounter.
