In an otherwise disappointing IPL 2025 campaign for Rajasthan Royals, one name shone brighter than the rest — Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Just 14 years old, the left-handed opener made a sensational entry into the world’s biggest T20 league, setting records, turning heads, and becoming the youngest star to light up the IPL stage.

Suryavanshi first made headlines with a blistering century against Gujarat Titans — a knock that set the tone for a season where he refused to slow down.

His ability to take on bowlers from the word go separated him from the rest. And now, as the season wraps up, the numbers do all the talking.

The RR opener became the batter with the highest strike-rate on the first 100 balls faced in IPL history, going past the explosive Jake Fraser-McGurk. Suryavanshi’s strike-rate stood at a staggering 212.38, eclipsing Fraser-McGurk’s 199.48.

Behind them in the elite list were India’s Priyansh Arya (190.37) and Ayush Mhatre (187.27), followed by RCB’s Tim David (174.94).

If that wasn’t enough, Suryavanshi also equalled another major IPL milestone. He smashed 24 sixes in IPL 2025 before turning 20, equalling Rishabh Pant’s record from 2017.

He now shares the top spot for most sixes hit by a teenager in a single IPL season, ahead of the likes of Sanju Samson (17 in 2014), Ishan Kishan (17 in 2018), and Tilak Varma (16 in 2022).

In RR’s final league match against Chennai Super Kings, chasing 188, Suryavanshi delivered yet another show-stopper.

His 27-ball half-century included a flurry of sixes that left CSK bowlers clueless. He looked assured, fearless, and displayed game awareness well beyond his years.
