England won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test against India at Edgbaston on Wednesday.

England captain Ben Stokes opted to bowl first at Edgbaston, believing the conditions looked favourable for his seamers. "It looks like decent conditions for bowling. Very good team performance last week, the bowlers did really well so we are happy to go with the same team," Stokes said at the toss, backing his unchanged side to deliver again.

India captain Shubman Gill admitted he would have made the same decision had the coin fallen his way. "India would have bowled first as well," Gill said, before detailing his team's changes. "Three changes. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar come in. And in place of Bumrah, Akash Deep is playing.

"This is an important match for us, but third match at Lord's there may be something more in the wicket and we thought we'll play him there. We were very tempted to play [Kuldeep] but looking at the last match we wanted to add some depth to the batting. This year has been a year of chaos. A lot of teams who haven't won a lot have won, so maybe that'll change fortunes for us [at Edgbaston]."
