Bangladesh and West Indies clashed against each other in the first T20I of the three-match series on October 27 at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.
The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first, posting 165/3 in 20 overs. After a very slow start and the top-order's collapse, Shai Hope (46* off 28) and Rovman Powell (44* off 28) anchored the innings, while the Bangladesh bowlers found it difficult to maintain control in the final overs.
Chasing 166, Bangladesh were always in recovery mode after losing early wickets and were eventually dismissed for 149 in 19.4 overs, giving the West Indies a 16-run victory. The hosts did show flashes of fight, particularly from Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nasum Ahmed with a mid-innings partnership, but their momentum stalled at the back end.
With this win, the Caribbean side have now taken 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The second match of the series will be played on October 29.
