After the first eight balls of the third day, Shanto and Mushfiqur remain solid at the crease for Bangladesh. Looks like we are in for a good spell of Test cricket in Sylhet, though the sky looks a tad bit overcast.
Shanto has to go!! The batter swings and misses against a fullish delivery from Khurram, and gets trapped straight on the pads. Shanto opts for the review, hoping for an edge, but UltraEdge shows a flat line,, and ball tracking shows that it would have crashed on the leg stump. Litton Das comes on as the new batter.
Mushfiqur slams Hasan Ali for a boundary over the covers, giving a much-needed impetus to the Bangladeshi innings as we go to drinks. The batting pair are doing well to weather out the Pakistani bowling attack, with the lead standing at 196 runs.
Bangladesh's lead has crossed 200-run mark against Pakistan on day 3. This is going to be some chase for Pakistan, especially with the ball moving around under the overcast conditions of Sylhet. Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das are experienced campaigners and this will be a vital stand for BAN in context of the Test match and the series outcome.
Bangladesh reach 203/4 at lunch with six wickets still intact and have a lead of 249. If the hosts add another 100-plus runs, this could get murkier for the visitors, given their poor record chasing.
Bangladesh's lead has crossed 267 runs and they seem to be relentless against a tired and struggling Pakistan bowling attack. Shan Masood has his task cut out with Mushfiqur and Litton putting on a sturdy display.
Bangladesh lead by 293 runs and they are in the driving seat against Pakistan. They have one and a half day to bat and also bat Pakistan out of the innings. The visitors are on the back-foot and must look to bowl out the opposition under 350-runs. Anything over it, could spell doom for Shan Masood-led side.
Bangladesh lead by 327 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell after the drinks break with the hosts still in the driving seat. PAK need to finish the innings off quickly but have a wall in the form of Mushfiqur Rahim, who is batting brilliantly and not giving any room for complacency.
Bangladesh have continued their good work and are in command of this Test. Mushfiqur is in the 90s and 10 runs away from a magnificent century. The hosts lead by 353 runs and another session of strong batting display, could completely hand the initiative into Bangladesh's hands.
Mushfiqur Rahim has scored yet another ton- 14th Test century as Bangladesh have pressed the charge on Pakistan in Sylhet. The hosts' lead is over 350 and probably should bat it out, against a tired Pakistan bowling attack. None of their bowlers, spinners or pacers, have been able to extract anything out of the pitch.
Pakistan finally get a breakthrough as Sajid dismisses Taijul. The Bangladesh batter attempted to go big but only manages to send the ball up into the sky, making for an easy catch for Abbas. Taskin, the new batter, opens his account with a boundary.
Following the dismissal of Taskin by Hasan Ali, Mushfiqur has been joined by Shoriful at the crease. With 100 overs bowled, Bangladesh's lead stands at 425 runs.
Mushfiqur's valiant stand finally comes to an end as he holes it to Abbas of Sajid's delivery. Bangladesh's second innings comes to an end at 390, and Pakistan need 437 to win the match and tie the serious. A massive, massive task for the Pakistani batters.
The Pakistani opening dou of Fazal and Awais survive the third day without any damage as the umpires call stumps due to poor lighting. A tough day awaits the batters tomorrow, with a mammoth 437-run target in front of them.
