Uttar Pradesh Govt Announces Housing Projects In 6 Major Cities, Plans 100 More Townships

The Yogi Adityanath-led Government of Uttar Pradesh has approved housing projects in six major cities of Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Kanpur, Ayodhya, and Moradabad.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced housing projects for six major cities of the state, including Varanasi, Agra, and Meerut. 

The other cities covered under the announcement are Kanpur, Ayodhya, and Moradabad. The projects would be implemented by the local urban development bodies of these districts and the UP Housing Development Board. 

The Yogi Adityanath-led UP government will provide land for these projects and would also grant Rs 1,570 crores for the implementation of the project. 

Additionally, the Government of UP has also planned to create 100 new townships in the state to tackle the increasing population. 

In a tweet, the Government of UP said, "Under the guidance of UP CM Mr Yogi Adityanath Ji, new housing projects would be started in Ayodhya, Varanasi, Kanpur, Meerut, Agra, and Moradabad. These projects would be implemented by the UP Housing Development Board and urban development bodies of the respective cities. The government would grant them Rs 1,570 crore to buy land for the projects."

A report shared by the Government of UP gave the details of financial grants given to the urban development bodies for these bodies. 

As per the report, Adyodhya Development Authority (ADA) received Rs 20 crore, Meerut Development Authority (MDA) received Rs 200 crore, Agra received Rs 150 crore, the UP Housing Development Board and Varanasi received Rs 400 crore each, New Kanpur and Bingawan bodies received Rs 50 crore. These funds have been given as seed capital.
