A significant fallout between two of India's most notorious gangsters, Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, has surfaced, raising concerns among law enforcement agencies and central intelligence bodies monitoring their expansive criminal operations.

According to an Indian Express report, the once close allies are no longer collaborating, marking a major shift in the dynamics of the syndicate that has long operated across India and internationally.

Bishnoi Behind Bars, Brar Abroad

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Central Jail, while Goldy Brar is believed to be operating from the United States. The split is said to have stemmed from Bishnoi’s dissatisfaction with Brar and associate Sachin Godara over their handling of a case involving his younger brother, Anmol Bishnoi.

Rift Sparked By Anmol’s Arrest

Sources cited by The Indian Express revealed that Bishnoi was reportedly angered after Brar and Godara failed to support Anmol during his legal troubles in the U.S. Anmol, 25, was detained by U.S. immigration authorities in November 2024 for allegedly using forged travel documents. Although later released, he remains under surveillance with an ankle bracelet tracker.

The central agencies believe that Brar and Godara did not assist Anmol in securing a bail bond, which further strained their alliance. Anmol has also been linked to the May 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and named as a key conspirator in the assassination of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in 2024.

Formation of New Alliances

Following the rift, both gangsters have reportedly formed new alliances. Goldy Brar has aligned himself with Azerbaijan-based gangster Rohit Godara, while Bishnoi is now associated with Canada-based Noni Rana. This fragmentation has raised concerns over potential turf wars and escalated tensions within the criminal underworld.

A senior official told The Indian Express, “This feud and their new syndicates are now a source of increasing tension for state police forces.” The matter was reportedly discussed at a recent National Investigation Agency (NIA) meeting attended by senior officers from Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.

Other Underlying Tensions

Apart from the Anmol episode, another cause of discord between Bishnoi and Brar appears to be disputes over recognition and credit following high-profile criminal acts. Investigators have noted increasing friction over the use of each other’s names without consent during such operations.

Authorities are also probing the activities of Noni Rana—also known as Surya Pratap—believed to be operating from the U.S. Rana is the younger brother of Haryana gangster Kala Rana and is suspected of extorting money on Bishnoi’s behalf.
