The total toll of arrests in Assam on allegations of being “Anti Hindu” or “Anti National” is now 97 since the terror attack at Pahalgam.

Aminul Islam is a three time MLA and has been in several controversies in the past, specifically on religious grounds. Upon being released on bail, Islam was again detained under the National Security Act (NSA).
On May 2, Hemnata threatened to “break the legs” of those who raised the “Pakistan Zindabad” slogan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam Terror Attack. Addressing a campaign rally, he appealed to the people to pray and give strength to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army so that Pakistani terrorists hiding anywhere in the world can be brought for "breaking their legs".
