R Madhavan's GDN Locks Release Date, Cast And New Poster Revealed

After his stellar act in Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, R Madhavan will be seen in the upcoming biographical drama, GDN. The makers announced the release date alongside a new poster and cast details. GDN follows the life and legacy of inventor Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, popularly known as the Edison of India, who shaped India's industrial and technological fields.

GDN will arrive in cinemas on July 17, 2026. Sharing the poster on social media, the makers captioned it, "Vision. Innovation. Legacy.
#GDN — inspired by the extraordinary journey of G. D. Naidu
Releasing worldwide on July 17,2026 (sic)."

The new poster features R Madhavan, greeting a crowd with folded hands. The poster also has actors Sathyaraj and Dushara Vijayan by his side.

On the poster, it was written, “Feared by the British Forgotten by his countrymen.”

About GDN

Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, G.D.N. is produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Madhavan and his wife Sarita Madhavan under their banner Tricolour Films. It is a multilingual film and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The film also stars Jayaram, Priyamani, Thambi Ramaiah, Vinay Rai, and Yogi Babu.

Aravind Kamalanathan has served as the cinematographer and creative producer.

Who was GDN?

Born in 1893 in Kalangal village near Coimbatore, GD Naidu belonged to a farming family. He was a visionary inventor, engineer, and industrial pioneer whose contributions to mechanical, electrical, agricultural, and automobile engineering are immense.

He manufactured India's first electric motor and also designed a petrol-powered automobile in 1937.
