UP CM Relief Fund Aids 2.44 Lakh Beneficiaries With ₹4,324 Crore Assistance In 5 Years

Lucknow, September 14: The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has emerged as a vital source of financial support for people facing economic hardship, serious illnesses, and other adverse circumstances. The scope of assistance has expanded steadily, ensuring relief reaches needy individuals across Uttar Pradesh without discrimination. An analysis of available data shows that between the financial years 2021-22 and 2025-26, a total of 244,263 beneficiaries received assistance amounting to ₹4,324.60 crore. During this period, the annual number of beneficiaries increased from 16,640 to 74,531, registering nearly a 4.5-fold rise. Divisional and district-wise figures further reflect the extensive geographical reach of the assistance.

The number of beneficiaries receiving support from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has witnessed substantial growth over the years. In 2021-22, assistance worth ₹289.71 crore benefited 16,640 people. In 2022-23, the assistance amount increased to ₹572.97 crore, reaching 31,745 beneficiaries. During 2023-24, 54,473 beneficiaries received relief worth ₹1,008.50 crore.

In 2024-25, assistance reached its highest level in the five-year period, with ₹1,344.94 crore disbursed to 66,874 beneficiaries. The average assistance per beneficiary also reached a peak of ₹2.01 lakh during the year. In 2025-26, assistance worth ₹1,108.48 crore was approved, while the number of beneficiaries rose to a record 74,531. The average assistance per beneficiary stood at ₹1.49 lakh.

A notable trend emerging from the data is that the number of beneficiaries continued to increase significantly despite year-to-year variations in the total assistance amount. In 2025-26, while the total assistance amount was 17.6 percent lower than the previous year, the number of beneficiaries increased by 11.4 percent, reaching an all-time high. This indicates a continued effort to extend support to a larger number of needy individuals.

According to the available records for 2025-26 and 2026-27, the divisional analysis shows that Lucknow Division recorded 19,507 beneficiaries, followed by Gorakhpur (13,621), Prayagraj (12,019), Ayodhya (10,427), Varanasi (9,364) and Kanpur (8,433). Other divisions also reported substantial beneficiary numbers, including Devipatan (7,201), Azamgarh (6,760), Basti (3,740) and Mirzapur (3,335). Beneficiaries were also recorded in Jhansi (2,263), Chitrakoot (1,894), Agra (1,617), Moradabad (1,441) and Meerut (1,308).

The data clearly indicates that assistance was distributed across diverse geographical regions of the state and was not confined to major divisions alone.

District-level figures reveal that Lucknow recorded 7,491 beneficiaries, followed by Prayagraj (6,572), Gorakhpur (5,463) and Kanpur Nagar (4,890). Other districts with significant beneficiary numbers include Gonda (3,647), Azamgarh (3,417), Pratapgarh (3,240), Varanasi (3,220), Jaunpur (3,219) and Sitapur (3,192).

Further beneficiaries were recorded in Kushinagar (3,179), Deoria (2,914), Barabanki (2,911), Raebareli (2,701) and Ayodhya (2,246). The figures demonstrate that assistance reached not only large districts but also comparatively smaller ones, reflecting the broad coverage of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund across Uttar Pradesh.

The data highlights a significant increase in the number of beneficiaries assisted through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund over the past five years. With more than 244,000 people receiving support and relief reaching every division and district of the state, the scheme reflects a wide and inclusive outreach. For individuals struggling with financial crises and difficult circumstances, the fund has served as an important source of support.

The expanding reach of assistance underscores continued efforts to ensure that relief reaches a larger number of deserving beneficiaries across Uttar Pradesh.
