Univision Foods Pvt. Ltd., the company behind the dry fruit brand Tauffa, has been named “Healthy Nutrition Brand of the Year” at the Achievers Awards 2026, presented at the 18th Edition of Outlook Business Spotlight. The recognition comes within three years of the company’s founding and a little over a year after Tauffa reached consumers.
A simple idea: nutrition that fits the monthly budget
India is one of the world’s largest consumers of dry fruits, yet for most households they remain a festival purchase. Price is the main barrier. A family that understands the value of almonds, walnuts or dates often still treats them as a luxury.
Univision Foods was set up in Haryana in 2023 to close that gap. The company started as a B2B supplier, providing dates, nuts, seeds and exotic berries to retailers, hotels, restaurants and private-label partners. That phase gave it scale in sourcing and a clear view of what Indian consumers were paying for quality.
“We saw that the same almond was reaching the customer at very different prices depending on the brand on the pack,” says Dev Pratap, Co-founder, Univision Foods. “We felt there was room for a brand that offered dependable quality without the premium mark-up. That is how Tauffa was born.”
From B2B supplier to consumer brand
In 2025 Univision Foods entered the consumer market with two brands. Tauffa is the value brand, with packs starting at Rs 99. Nut n Berry is the premium gifting brand, priced between Rs 500 and Rs 3,000.
Tauffa’s range covers the staples of an Indian kitchen: cashews, almonds, raisins, pistachios, walnuts, anjeer, munakka and dates, along with trail mix and seed mix for younger, health-focused buyers. The pilot, launched in January 2025, crossed Rs 1 crore in sales in its first three months.
The brand is available on Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Amazon and Flipkart, as well as in modern trade and general trade outlets. Small pack sizes have been central to the plan. They lower the cost of trying the product and suit quick commerce, where customers buy little and often.
Sourcing at origin, quality at every step
Univision Foods buys close to where the crop is grown. Almonds come from California, pistachios from Iran, cashews from South India and Goa, makhana from Bihar and dates from the Middle East. Sorting, grading and packing are handled in-house.
This control over the chain is what allows the company to keep prices low without lowering the grade. It also supports the product ideas the company is investing in, including zero-oil dry fruit snacks, seed mixes and berries such as cranberries, blueberries and goji berries.
The founder behind the brand
Dev Pratap grew up in Kaman, in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, and trained as a food technologist at Kurukshetra University. He later studied business in Auckland, New Zealand. His career has covered food manufacturing and large-format retail in both countries, including a stint at Vishal Mega Mart.
In 2025, BusinessWorld named him among its “Next-Gen Business Leaders: Entrepreneurs to Watch”.
“I have worked on both sides of the shelf, in the factory and in the store,” he says. “That taught me that the Indian customer is very sharp. She will pay for quality, but she will not pay for packaging and promises. Tauffa respects that.”
What the award means
The Achievers Awards recognise businesses and leaders contributing to India’s growth story. For Univision Foods, the title of Healthy Nutrition Brand of the Year is a signal that affordable nutrition is now a serious category.
“For us this award is more than a trophy,” says Dev Pratap. “It reflects the trust our consumers place in us and the commitment of our whole team. We are grateful to our customers, our partners and our employees, and to Outlook Business Spotlight for this honour.”
The road ahead
Univision Foods has set out three priorities for the next phase:
Wider reach: taking Tauffa deeper into tier 2 and tier 3 towns through general trade.
New formats: more ready-to-eat healthy snacks built on nuts, seeds and dates.
Greater transparency: stronger traceability and quality communication on every pack.
“Our goal is to reach consumers across the country with quality products that stand out,” says Dev Pratap. “If a handful of nuts becomes part of the daily routine in a few million more homes, we will have done our job.”
