In an apparent dig at the BJP-led government on Constitution Day,  daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Iltija Mufti, on Tuesday said three former CMs are "illegally detained" since August 5.

Without naming any party, Iltija said MLAs "are being purchased like onions". The remark was in reference to the recent turn of events in Maharashtra where Ajit Pawar backed the BJP to form the government, leaving everyone surprised.

On August 5, when the centre abolished the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, three former CMs -- Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah -- and hundreds of other politicians and political workers were detained and lodged in different jails and sub-jails.

Taking to the Twitter handle of her mother, Iltija wrote: "We are living in times when 3 ex J&K CMs who swore allegiance to Indian constitution have been illegally detained since 5th August."

Mufti was earlier lodged in at a Guest House-turned-sub jail in Chesma shahi. She was later shifted to government quarters on Maulana Azad Road in Srinagar.

Iltija also took a dig at BJP for the political crisis in Maharashtra, saying, "Meanwhile MLAs are being purchased like onions in a supermarket. Happy Constitution day."
