A total of 800 people, who came in contact with a coronavirus positive doctor at one of the mohalla clinic in the national capital's Maujpur area, have been quarantined for 14 days, Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday.

Jain said that Dr Gopal Jha and four others tested positive after they came in contact with an infected woman who returned from Saudi Arabia. Jha's daughter and wife have also tested postive for COVID-19, news agency ANI reported.

Speaking on the matter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the mohalla clinics will continue to function but with all the precautions. Besides that, Kejriwal also said: "Food home delivery services have been allowed, the delivery persons can show their ID cards that will be sufficient."

Earlier, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Shahdara, had asked the people, who visited the doctor, to contact the control room, in case they showed any symptoms of COVID-19.

According to the Delhi Health official, the clinic has been closed and is being sanitised.

With six new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total in the national capital reached 36 on Wednesday.
