After Tandav, Amazon Prime web series Mirzapur found itself in fresh trouble on Thursday. The web series is facing allegations of "maligning the image of Uttar Pradesh and showing the state in a bad light". A team of policemen from UP had reached Mumbai to chase the FIR filed by one of the residents of Mirzapur district of UP. Supreme Court also on a petition filed by another resident of the town issued notice to the makers of 'Mirzapur'web series and Amazon Prime.
Petitioner SK Kumar complained to Supreme Court that the series showed Mirzapur town in a bad light and portrayed it as a den of terror and illegal activities.
A journalist and writer, Arvind Chaturvedi who is a resident of Mirzapur, filed an FIR against 'Mirzapur' web series on Sunday night. The charge listed in FIR is "deliberate and malicious intention of outraging religion feelings".
Chaturvedi, in his complaint, stated that the plot and dialogues of the web series hurt his religious sentiments and show his district in a bad light.
A team of UP police led by an inspector reached Mumbai to further investigate the FIR. While another team of UP Police is already in Mumbai to investigate the complaint filed against the Web series 'Tandav' which is accused of hurting religious sentiments.
