Police officers cordon the site where top criminal Vikas Dubey was killed near Kanpur.
About the claim that slain gangster Vikas Dubey had acquired property worth crores of rupees, she said it was 'fake news' and that her husband has left the family to fend for themselves.
Dubey was killed in an encounter in the morning of July 10 when a police vehicle carrying him from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident and he tried to escape from the spot in Bhauti area, the police had said.
Eight policemen, including DSP Devendra Mishra, were ambushed in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur when they were going to arrest Dubey and fell to bullets fired from rooftops shortly after midnight on July 3.
The arrests were made on charges of criminal conspiracy and helping Vikas Dubey in his nefarious design by providing him cash and cartridges hours before the Bikru village ambush, in which eight police personnel were killed.
'The motive of Vikas Dubey was to flee and attack the cops again. This triggered self-defence leading to the encounter,' Uttar Pradesh Police told the Supreme Court.
In the audio, Shahikant's wife is heard talking to Dubey's sister-in-law immediately after the ambush in which eight police personnel were killed at Kanpur’s Bikru village on June 2.
A bench by Chief Justice of India may consider appointing a committee to inquire into the encounters of Vikas Dubey, his aides as well as the killing of eight Uttar Pradesh policemen by the gangster.
