Hagia Sophia is no longer a museum as the Turkish government opens it as a mosque. But the conversion of the cathedral into a mosque back in 15th century was the first historical controversy on this matter.
Police have also asked the people not to offer prayers at mosques. They, however, allowed the muezzin to give a call for prayers but strict guidelines have been issued, asking people not to gather at mosques.
The order, which is being widely circulated on social media, has added to the speculation that the Centre might have plans to do away with Article 35A, which gives exclusive rights to the state's residents in government jobs and land.
