A Zomato spokesperson said that its alcohol home delivery service will go live in Ranchi on Thursday and seven other cities in Jharkhand over the next couple of days.
Restaurants and hotels, which are sitting on a liquor stockpile of around Rs 3,000 crore, are asking state governments to allow them to sell the stock lying with them due to the coronavirus lockdown.
According to Excise Department officials, the sale of liquor in state capital Lucknow was recorded at Rs 6.3 crore on Monday, the first day of the start of the third phase of the lockdown that ends on May 17.
