Kausalya Shankar started the Shankar Social Justice Trust to fight for a casteless society and assist inter-caste couples in their struggles. She is spearheading a campaign for a special law to protect such couples.
She had got elected on the caste certificate of 'Gond Scheduled Tribe'. A state government panel has found Dhurve's caste to be 'indisputably Bisen/Pawar', which is not notified as a Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Madhya Pradesh.
Backward Welfare Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has said that if the recommendations of the panel are not made applicable before Lok Sabha elections of 2019, he will launch a mass agitation starting December 24.
The examination was conducted by DSSSB on October 13 and the multiple choice question number 61 in the Hindi Language and Comprehension paper had allegedly used some derogatory terms for describing the Dalit community.
