On Sunday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) dominated the show against hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR), with the race for the top 4 positions being the closest in the Indian Premier League's (IPL) history.
After winning the toss, RCB reached 171-5 with captain Faf du Plessis (55) and Glenn Maxwell (54) making hefty contributions. In their run chase, RR suffered a collapse that saw them get bowled out for 59, handing the visitors a 112-run victory.
RR's paltry total was the third-lowest in IPL.

The now-defunct side Pune Warriors India (PWI) received a battering from RCB, with Chris Gayle registering his highest T20 score of 175* in 66 balls. That innings from the West Indies talisman comprised 17 sixes and 13 fours. Gayle went on to set plenty of records through that performance, which also saw his team post 263-5, which is the highest team total in the tournament to date. In reply, PWI, led by Aaron Finch, were restricted to 133-9, suffering a massive 130-run loss.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Kings XI Punjab, 2015 (138 runs)
Gayle, again, shone with the bat for RCB, this time against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He slammed his 14th ton in the shortest format. Choosing to field first against such a daunting batting line-up proved costly for the Punjab franchise as they gave away 226 runs. Gayle's 57-ball 117 proved too much for KXIP, as their innings folded for just 88 runs, with Mitchell Starc and Sreenath Arvind picking up four wickets apiece.

Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2008 (140 runs)
Probably the one reason why RCB keep dishing out punishment to opposition teams is because they have endured it themselves. The very first match of the IPL in 2008 saw Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Brendon McCullum take RCB bowlers to the cleaners, smashing an unbeaten 158. Attempting to chase down a mammoth 223, RCB were dismissed for 82 runs, with Praveen Kumar's 18 being the highest score.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Gujarat Lions, 2016 (144 runs)
Virat Kohli had a great 2016 IPL, as he amassed 973 runs in just 16 matches, scoring four hundreds and seven fifties. One of these centuries came against the Gujarat Lions (GL), but that performance was outshined by AB de Villiers' 129*. Kohli and de Villiers also put on a 229-run partnership, which is a record even today. GL crumbled under pressure, as even the destructive McCullum succumbed early, giving RCB a 144-run victory.
Mumbai Indians Vs Delhi Capitals, 2017 (146 runs)
Delhi Capitals (DC) held the record for the third-lowest total in IPL until RR’s 59 all out on Sunday. DC faced a formidable Mumbai Indians (MI), who, after being put into bat, posted 212-3, with the West Indies pair of Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard scoring 66 and 63*, respectively. DC got off to a rocky start, and it did not stop there, as one batter after another perished, and the team lost by a record margin.
