Welcome Back, United! Hull’s Fairytale Return Turns Into Red Devils’ Nightmare

Hull City marked their return to the Premier League in stunning fashion, beating Manchester United 2-0 at the MKM Stadium to secure their first-ever Premier League victory over the Red Devils. Semi Ajayi gave the newly promoted side the lead in the 17th minute, reacting quickest from a corner, before Nobel Mendy doubled the advantage before half-time from another set-piece situation. Manchester United dominated possession but struggled to turn it into clear chances, repeatedly finding Hull’s disciplined defence difficult to break down. Michael Carrick introduced Marcus Rashford after the interval in search of a response, but the visitors remained blunt in the final third. Hull held firm to complete a famous victory and hand Carrick’s side a shocking defeat in their opening game of the 2026-27 season.
