As the toll of the May 28 train tragedy mounted, there was one reason to smile. A two year old child, who was found crying beneath the wreckage of coach 53, was finally reunited with his mother. This inconsolably crying child, labelled Unknown in a hospital, caught the attention of some journalists who flashed his photograph in newspapers and on TV. And it worked. His uncle and grandfather rushed to Midnapore. He has been identified as Shaukat Ali, age two. His father Mohammed Haider died in the crash. His mother, badly injured, had been moved to another hospital.
