In response to the recent imposition of a curfew in Manipur's five valley districts, authorities have taken a step towards easing the situation for the general public. An official announcement has been made regarding the relaxation of curfew hours, allowing residents to purchase essential items like medicines and food.
The official order, issued on Wednesday, outlines the revised curfew timings for different districts. In Imphal East, Imphal West, and Kakching districts, the curfew will be relaxed from 5 am to 6 pm on Thursday. Meanwhile, Thoubal district will have curfew relaxation from 5 am to 8 pm, and for Bishnupur district, it will extend from 5 am to 11 am, PTI reported.
However, it's important to note that these relaxations come with certain conditions. The official order emphasizes that the relaxed hours are not meant for gatherings, sit-in protests, rallies, or any such activities without prior approval from the competent authority.
The decision to impose a full curfew in these five valley districts earlier was driven by concerns related to potential law and order violations. Unfortunately, recent events, including clashes between security forces and protesters in Bishnupur district, have underscored the need for strict measures to maintain peace and security in the region.
