Madhya Pradesh: Air Force's Apache Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing

A precautionary landing was made by the Air Force pilot for the Apache helicopter in Madhya Pradesh. Reports say it was a technical fault that the pilot detected.

An emergency landing was made by an Air Force pilot behind the wheels of the Apache helicopter today. According to reports it was done after the pilot detected some technical fault in the chopper and decided that the landing would be safer.

Reportedly an official said, "Due to the presence of mind of the pilot, a major accident was averted."

The reports also suggest that the helicopter will be flown out shortly.

What is the Apache helicopter?

The AH-64 Apache is said to be the world's most advanced multi-role combat helicopter.

Reports say that the Indian Air Force has a fleet of 22 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. In 2020 an agreement was signed with Boeing that six more Apache helicopters will be obtained for the Indian Army.
