Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday alleged that the BJP has completely failed in controlling inflation and the double engine government "pushed the public in the fire of inflation" while it helps the capitalists fill their pockets.
"These big capitalist houses only help the BJP in the elections. For its benefit, the BJP is not at all worried. The public is suffering and the BJP government is happy," he said in a release issued by the SP.
"The BJP government has proved to be completely unsuccessful in controlling inflation. The double engine government has pushed the general public in the fire of inflation and filling the pockets of the capitalists," the release quoted the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister as saying.

Yadav alleged that people are being hit by inflation due to the "extortion and loot in the BJP rule". "The Samajwadi Party believes that it has become necessary to remove the BJP from power to get rid of inflation. The slogan of 'daam bandho policy' (control prices), which was given by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, can be fulfilled only by socialists," he added.
