Congress leader Digvijaya Singh assured that if his party is elected to power the Bajrang Dal will not be banned but also mentioned that goons and rioters will not be spared.
Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh spoke to the media and said, "Bajrang Dal is a group of goons and anti-social elements... This country belongs to all, so Modi ji (PM Narendra Modi) and Shivraj ji (MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan) stop dividing the country. Establish peace in the country which will lead to development."
Singh answered a question about the fate of Bajrang Dal and if it will get banned if the Congress comes to power in the Assembly elections due this year-end, he said, "We will not ban. There may be some good people in Bajrang Dal. But, those who are goons and involved in rioting will not be spared.”

Further, Digvijay Singh defended state Congress chief Kamal Nath's comments on 'Hindu Rashtra' which created controversy recently, he said, "You people have misrepresented Nath's statement. He never said what you people and the BJP are saying. I want to ask the BJP, PM, Home Minister, CM whether they have taken oath of the Constitution or of Hindu Rashtra?”
What did Kamal Nath say?
Congress leader Kamal Nath was approached for his comments on the alleged claim of spiritual preacher Dhinendra Shastri of making India a Hindu Rashtra. Nath told the media, "World's largest Hindu population lives in our country. 82 per cent of Hindus reside here. It is not a debatable issue. It is not something to be told. These are statistics…What is the need to say it separately?”

Who runs Bajrang Dal?
The youth wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad is called the Bajrang Dal. Recently the name Vishwa Hindu Parishad was involved in the communal clashes in the Nuh district of Haryana but the VHP has disassociated itself from cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi who was arrested regarding the said clashes.
In addition, while referring to the case of the collapse of some statues in Ujjain's Lok Kumbh this May due to high winds, Digvijaya Singh also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party regime is plagued by corruption.
BJP reaction
Reacting to Digvijay Singh's comment, Madhya Pradesh minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang told PTI, “No one needs the mercy of Digvijaya Singh, who maligns the image of Hindus, disrespects Hindu gods, and coins terms such as 'saffron terrorism'."
